About Us

Philosophy
The motivation of the stakeholders of St. Raphael Junior School is the development and education of the whole child as a unique gift from God. Recognizing each child's unique abilities and experiences in their home and community environments, we strive to awaken faith and self-awareness and build self-confidence so that each child may become a well-adjusted, hopeful, self-driven, and balanced member of society.

The educational design of our school’s program aims to be holistic by providing opportunities for the spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical, moral, and social development of each child. By employing diverse learning approaches and emphasizing areas such as math skills, languages, science, technology, agriculture, sports, crafts, and the arts, we offer instruction in the basics and practical experiences relevant to the child and their environment. We strive to be flexible in adapting our instructional program as conditions change and new needs arise.

A God-centered, child-safe environment is provided through a warm, caring atmosphere among staff and children. We firmly believe that in this environment, the teacher serves not only to provide classroom learning but also as a living example of the values we want the child to internalize.
History
St. Raphael Junior School (SRJS) was founded by Fr. Dennis Kasule on February 22, 2016, as a private day and boarding school to extend the educational facilitation aspirations of the Directors of the Stepping Stones Foundation of Hope. SRJS includes the St. Raphael Nursery and the St. Raphael Primary Sections.

The original intention of Fr. Kasule was not to establish a primary school but a technical school. However, at that time the single school that provided elementary education around Bunnamweri-Kakoola shut down. That being the case, it did not make sense to start a higher learning center without a center to provide elementary education. Hence, attention and resources were redirected toward elementary education.

Since 2016, SRJS has grown to become one of the best schools in Mpigi District of Uganda. As SRJS continues to grow, she seeks to provide a God-centered, faith-filled, child-safe, and holistic learning environment that enables each child to become a life-long learner, a responsible citizen in a global society, and a leader.

In this effort, there are numerous stakeholders involved. We are grateful to our Learners, the Board of Directors of the Stepping Stones Foundation of Hope and the Management Team of St. Raphael Foundation, The School Management Committee, the Parents and Teachers Committee, Parents and Guardians/Sponsors, the School Administration and Staff, the communities served by SRJS and our supporters in Chicago and the surrounding areas.

St. Raphael Junior School is fully registered with the Ministry of Education and Sports and has its UNEB examination center number.
